Barbara Engle Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 5th at the VFW Post 9210 in Youngsville, LA for Barbara Engle, 65, who died on Wednesday, November 24th. Join us anytime from 11am-2pm at 204 Lafayette St. in Youngsville, LA. Survivors include her son, Trevor Engle and life partner, David Loewen; her extended Lafayette family, Carrie and Bill Alexander and Candi and her husband, Scottie Carriere and children Michael Schmidt and Ava Carriere; and her brothers and sisters in St. Joseph, Missouri, Vickie Wallace, Sherry Conroy and Ronnie and Dennis Gentry. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Thomas and Shirley Gentry and her brother Tom Gentry. She is a native of St. Joseph, Missouri where she attended Central High School and has been a long-time resident of the Lafayette area. Barbara is known to be the master at making all her friends and family lots of knitted and crocheted goodies, keepsakes we will all be able to treasure for many years to come! We all loved the special treats she'd whip up in the kitchen and she never showed up empty handed (or least we hoped not!). She loved to curl up with a good book and really loved to cheer on her two favorite teams, Kansas City Chiefs and Saints (in that order!). Barbara shared her unconditional love and support with family and friends from St. Joe to Lafayette, a blessing to so many of us. She was a kind, generous soul who touched many and will be missed dearly.
