Beverly Calais

November 22, 1920 - May 13, 2022

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 1:30 PM in St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette for Beverly Calais , 101, who died peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2022 at her residence in Breaux Bridge surrounded by her family. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Born in Cecilia Louisiana on November 22nd 1920, Miss Calais was a resident of Lafayette since 1922. She was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, where she did volunteer work as a child and as a retiree. In 1982, Miss Calais retired from Union Texas Petroleum (now B. P. Corporation). Miss Calais was a woman of great faith that expressed itself in unconditional love as a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt, and friend. Her strong faith, courage, and wisdom, her gentle ways, compassion, and wonderful sense of humor communicated a sense of the Lord's loving presence as a gift to all who knew and came to love her and be loved by her. Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jude Norval Calais and Eulalie Bernard Calais; and her siblings and their spouses, J. N. (Esther) Calais, Mrs Lelia (Charles) Dupuis, and Harold (Eva) Calais. Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Gift Bearers will be Dawn D. Clark and John Emery Dupuis. Lector will be Tina Albarado. Music will be provided by vocalist, Gayle C. Guidry and organist, Beth Hebert. Christopher Guidry, Jonathan Fremin, Larry Wood, Gabriel Mouton, Colby Albarado and Jose' Silvestrini will serve as pallbearers. Curtis Calais, J.C. Dupuis, and Donald Calais will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Monday, May 16, 2022 beginning at 8:30 AM with a recitation of the Rosary by Jesse Fremin at 10:00 AM. Visitation will continue until 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, offerings may be sent to The Discalced Carmelite Nuns, Monastery of Mary Mother of Grace, 1250 Carmel Drive Lafayette, LA. 70501.
