Emily was born on November 1, 1928 (All Saints' Day) in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, to Najib and Demetria Leyto Boustany. They named her Esperanza which means hope. When she came to the United States with her father Najib and brothers, Robert and Joseph, her name was changed to Emily. She was always very kind, humble and prayerful. Emily was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed babysitting, playing the piano by ear and singing. She always desired to serve rather than be served. She is survived by her nieces, Beverly Boustany Chitty (Kenny), Mary Alice Boustany and (Godchild) Susan Boustany Durand as well as nephews, Robert Boustany, Jr., Ronnie Boustany (Carol), James Boustany (Brenda), Edward Boustany (Tessa) and numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews who saw her as a wonderful example of unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Najib and Demetria Boustany and siblings, Robert, Joseph, Angelica, Julia, Susanna and Amelia. Her family would like to thank her caregivers at River Oaks Retirement Manor, Hospice of Acadiana, Dr. L. Glen Mire, and all who visited with her. We are grateful to all who treated her with love, compassion and respect. Donations may be made to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 515 Cathedral Street, Lafayette, LA 70501, the Carmelite Monastery, 1250 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA 70501, or Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
