Florence D. Landry

March 13, 1920 - January 20, 2022

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Florence D. Landry at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lafayette. Florence was 101 when she passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location, 330 St. Landry St., Lafayette, LA 70506 on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 8:00 AM until time of services at 10:00 AM. A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Very Reverend Chester C. Arceneaux, VF, Rector, will serve as Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Survivors include her daughter, Judith "Judy" Trahan (Donald "Red"); her daughter Katherine "Katie" Landry; her sister, Nedia LaChaussee; her grandsons, Scott Trahan, Christopher Trahan and Matthew Trahan; her great-grandchildren, Ainsley Trahan, Morgaine Trahan and Hadley Trahan. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dalton "Slim" Landry; her daughter, Lois Marie Landry; her sisters, Adele Broussard, Anita Bernard, Eula Vincent, Yvonne Richard and Irene Dupont; her brothers, Camille Dupont, Emile Dupont and Clovis Dupont. "Grandma", who drove well into her mid-nineties, fiercely valued her family, her independence and her faith. She was a beautiful, kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was the perfect combination of grace, strength and generosity. An incredible cook, she loved nothing more than being in the kitchen for hours preparing one of her family Sunday dinners. Her greatest joy came from taking care of and providing for her beloved family. She loved to go fishing and crabbing, and enjoyed gardening; delighting in her camellias every fall. She had a spark, a love of life and a sense of duty and hard work that defined her and served as an amazing example to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Scott Trahan, Christopher Trahan, Matthew Trahan, Kevin Serrin, Joey Broussard and Neil Broussard. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Landry family to staff of Nursing Specialties Incorporated for their compassionate care.
