Florentino "Tino" de Jesus Vega

August 24, 1950 - April 5, 2022

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location in Lafayette, for Florentino "Tino" de Jesus Vega, age 71, who passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his residence in Lafayette. A Rosary will be prayed by Fr. John Joseph on Sunday at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Carolyn LeBoeuf Vega; his daughter, Tina Menard (David); his son, Florentino "Chico" Vega, Jr. (Angie); his grandchildren, Victoria Menard, David Menard, Ashton Vega (Caitlin), and Antonio "Tony" Vega; his brother, Manuel Vega; and his sisters, Tessie Martin (Paul), Maria Garcia (Jose'), Rita Cormier (Ralph), and Lali Haygood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian J. Vega, Sr. and Eulalia Vega; his brother, Adrian J. Vega, Jr.; and his niece, Isabel Gillion. Florentino was lovingly known by his family and friends as Tino. He was a native of Havana, Cuba and a resident of Lafayette since 1964 where he attended Lafayette High School. Tino loved muscle cars and everything about them, it was a passion for him to teach his children and grandchildren about mechanics and racing. He was an animal lover, especially Labrador Retrievers and horses. Tino loved spending time outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had a strong work ethic that he instilled in his family and everyone around him, making certain if you did something, you did it right. Tino co-owned Lee Furniture Store in Downtown Lafayette for many years, worked with his brother at a Lafayette dealership, and also managed their family ranch in West Texas. In each of his business endeavors, he made life long relationships and was a respected mentor. He will be deeply missed and loved by those he touched.
