Gail "Granny" Anslem Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Lafayette, for Gail Rita Anslem, 67, who passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at her residence in Lafayette, with loved ones at her side. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Reverend Brent Smith, Nephew of Mrs. Anslem and Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, will serve as Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Lectors for the Mass will be Bethany Bravo and Kinsley Usie. Giftbearers will be Chloee Holt and Cherie Anslem. Cherishing the memories of Gail include her loving husband of 47years, Lee Allen Anslem; her son, Shawn Anslem and his wife, Cherie; one sister, Carol Ann Smith and her husband, Raymond, and her two grandchildren, Gabe Anslem and girlfriend Chloee, and Kinsley Usie and her husband, Kollin. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Melancon and the former Wilda Durio. A native of Catahoula and life long resident of Lafayette, Gail was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church. Hobbies of Gail included shopping, gardening, watching the splendor of hummingbirds, and spending quality time with her family and her precious grandchildren. She retired from Coburn's Supply Company after 38 years of dedicated service. Pallbearers will be Gabe Anslem, Kollin Usie, Kaleb Shello, Noah Schexnayder, Brandon Melancon, Hector Bravo, Justin Mcmanus, and Nicholas Benoit. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Smith, Chad Smith, and Kenneth Dauphine. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed by Brady LeBlanc at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Anslem family to the entire staff of Acadian Hospice, doctors, nurses and staff, for the dedication to their profession while caring for Gail during her time of need.
