James "Red" Phillips

October 30, 1962 - March 14, 2022

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Mr. James Richard "Red" Phillips, on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM in Martin Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette. James was 59 when he passed away on Monday evening, March 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of services at 2:00 PM. Pastor Paul Neel of Our Savior's Church-Lafayette Campus, will conduct the funeral services. Left behind to cherish his memory is his beloved daughter, Natalie Phillips Bejeaux and her husband Matthew and her mother, Jenora Phillips Pelas and her husband, Paul(his husband-in-law); his mother, Rose Mary Richard Timmons and his step-father, Jimmy; his brother Larry J. Phillips and his wife, Maureen; his brother, Timothy P. Phillips(Cassandra); his brother, Jason Lee Phillips and wife Stacey Phillips; his sister, Emelina Phillips-Simonson and her husband David; his god-child, Tasha Schexnayder and her husband Seth; his granddaughter by association, Kaylie Schexnayder; his beloved dog, Axel James; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, god-children and loved ones. James was preceded in death by his father, Borden Ervin Thomas Phillips. Red as he was affectionately known, was a former resident of Raceland and currently a resident of Church Point, Louisiana. Some of his hobbies included fishing, dancing, horse back riding, tail gating for UL games, attending Saints Games, camping, attending Mardi Gras parades, and cooking. Although Red had many interests in life, his true passion was his family, especially Natalie. To know him was to love him. He's the first one there to help if someone calls and would give you the shirt off of his back. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alvin Donohue, Paul Pelas, Larry Phillips, Timmy Phillips, Matthew Bejeaux, Seth Schexnayder and Anthony Forestier, Jr. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Phillips family to the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes for taking care of him during this difficult time.
