JoAnne Stanley Bazer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for JoAnne Stanley Bazer, 80, who passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by her family. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum. The Reverend Victor Stevens, Pastor of New Life Christian Ministry, and The Reverend Honey Becker, Deacon of Episcopal Church of the Ascension, will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include her beloved husband of 60 years, Don A. Bazer, Sr.; daughter, Toni E. Bazer of Pontchatoula and her partner, Mel Lamp; daughter, Donna Bazer Romero of Loreauville and husband, Tommy; son, Don A. Bazer, Jr. of Lafayette and wife, Stephanie; son, Michael W. Bazer of Lafayette and fiancé, Jennifer Michiels; and granddaughter, Mia E. Romero of Loreauville. Survivors also include her brother, John Stanley of Shongaloo; her brother, Jimmy Stanley of Georgetown, TX and wife, Martha; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Odell Stanley and Mamie Etta Blount Stanley; her sister, Wilma Stanley Grisham; brother-in-law, Billy Grisham; and sister-in-law Sharyn Thorne Stanley. Mrs. Bazer was a 1959 graduate of Terrebonne High School. Her first career was in the oil industry; she worked first for Baroid, then for Campbell Energy Corporation. Her second career was in real estate; she worked for Foutz & Prime and Stirling Properties before starting her own company, Professional Property Management of Acadiana. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing for sac au lait at her camp on Old River. She also enjoyed caring for a herd of miniature horses she kept on her property in Loreauville. Pallbearers will be Rodney Bazer, Kenny Bazer, Butch Bazer, Jim Kitchell, Tommy Romero, and Mel Lamp. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Bazer's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Shriners' Children's Hospital, or ASPCA. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Bazer family to the staff at NSI Home Health and Hospice. The family especially wants to thank caregivers, Catherine Thomas and Mary Gautreau, for their excellent care and assistance during this difficult time.
