John Hebert

November 20, 1926 - June 29, 2016

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for John Hebert, age 89, who died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at his residence in Youngsville with his family at his side. Entombment will be in St. Anne Mausoleum in Youngsville. Reverend William Schambough will celebrate the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Alicia Domingue and Dana Roger. Giftbearers will be his great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Joyce Trahan Hebert; his daughters, Elaine Aymond (Lee), and Wendy David; his sons, John Hebert, Jr. (Patricia), and Larry Hebert (Linda); his brother, Frank "Jim" Hebert; his 8 grandchildren, Mark Aymond, Alicia Domingue (Brady), Dana Roger (Blake), Rhonda Hebert (Chase Benoit), Justin Hebert, Brandon David, Randy David II (Jennifer), and Kevin Hebert (Wanda); 6 great grandchildren, Dillon and Katie Domingue, Caleb David, Luke and Mason Roger, and Chloe Hebert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurent and Alice Moore Hebert; his step mother, Leonie Trahan; and his brother, Laurent Lloyd Hebert. John was a native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of Youngsville for most of life. He was a veteran of military service and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He was a life member of the VFW Post 9210 of Youngsville, the Derouen Moss American Legion Post of Erath, a life member of the Youngsville Fire Dept. and a member of the LeBlanc Volunteer Fire Dept. He is also a member of the La. Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the Woodmen of the World. In his younger life, John was a dairyman. He had retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier with many years of service. He loved fishing and crabbing, and enjoyed hunting. John will always be remembered for his welcoming presence with a smile, never meeting a stranger for long, and his desire to help others. He will be deeply missed. Pallbearers will be Mark Aymond, Brady Domingue, Kevin Hebert, Justin Hebert, Randy David II, and Brandon David. Honorary Pallbearers will be his great grandchildren. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
