Pastor Frank Carmical of Southside Bible Chapel in Lafayette will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include his children, Leonel M. Carrillo, Maria A. Fuentes and her husband, Jose A. Fuentes Jr., Graciela Carrillo and her husband Hector Galvan; his grandson, Daniel A. Espana-Carrillo; and his siblings, Juan Carrillo-Huerta, Micaela Carrillo-Huerta, Gloria Carrillo-Huerta, Maria Elia Carrillo-Huerta, Loreto Carrillo-Huerta, Miguel Angel Carrillo-Huerta, Maria de Carmen Carrillo-Huerta, Victor Carrillo-Huerta, and Alberto Carrillo-Huerta. He was preceded in death by his father Macario Carrillo-Serna and his mother Maria Leonor Huerta-Carrillo; and one brother, Macario Carrillo. Jose “Leon” Carrillo relocated from Dolores Hidaldo, Guanajuato, Mexico when he was 20 years old. Leon was a hardworking man and when his family began to grow in 1991. He was determined to provide and give his children the best in life that he could. This led him to begin remodeling and renting out homes in Lockhart, Texas. All this was done while holding a full-time job in Austin, Texas working in building construction, home renovations, and road and pavement construction. As a father he taught his three children the importance of education, money, and investing. Leon was a very adventurous, caring, kind man who made friends everywhere he went. Leon never hesitated to help and would give his last dollar or the shirt off his back to help anyone. He loved to share stories about traveling in the US with his kids. Leon enjoyed outdoor labor and working with his hands. He would always say he loved his job and could not see himself doing anything else. Leon was a God-fearing man who loved and prayed for everyone whether he knew them or not. Leon, your family and friends love and miss you. We will never forget you.
