Joyce Broussard Henry

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Ms. Joyce Broussard Henry at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Martin and Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel, 600 E. Farrel Rd., Lafayette, LA 70508. Joyce was 85 when she was escorted by angels up the stairway to heaven on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Avanti Senior Living in Youngsville. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location, 600 E. Farrel Rd., Lafayette, LA 70508, on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 1:00 PM until time of services at 3:00 PM. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in St. John Cemetery in Lafayette. Pastor Richard Meche will conduct the funeral services. Joyce was a native of Lyons Point, Louisiana and a current resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. Joyce was known as a strong woman of Faith who found strength in her great love for God. A loyal and devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Joyce was a respected member of her church who donated decades of her life in service to others. She proudly served as President of Ladies Auxiliary, head church service greeter, and Sunday School Teacher. She cherished and loved deeply her true friends who formed her group she founded called "Do Good Sister Hood". She was known as the "Card Lady" who faithfully sent thoughtful cards for holidays and special occasions to everyone of her friends, church members and family. Her passion for her card ministry was consistent for over 40 years and she sent to all from the kindness of her heart. Joyce was one of the oldest and longest sponsors of Tupelo Children's Mansion. Joyce left behind to cherish her memory her children, Darlene Henry, Carl Henry and Amie, Janice Bordelon, Lucretia Huval and her husband Kenny, Angie Van Lierop and her husband, Ronnie, Lason Henry, Monica Henry and Melissa Powers; her grandchildren Francine Gauthier, Vanessa Richard, Priscilla Fullilove, Misty Stelly, Kendall Trahan, Scott Henry, Brady Henry, Dustin Henry, Melanie Abboud, Chad Desormeaux, Colin Desormeaux, Aaron Desormeaux, Nicholas Chiasson, Abby Van Lierop, Little Lason Henry, Lauren Fontenot, Hannah Thibodeaux, and Amalee Devillier; one sister, Diane Reyna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert "Shing" Henry; her parents, Irene and Sydney Broussard; one brother, Morris Broussard; sister, Lois Simon; twin sister, Joy Breaux; great grandson, Clay Miller; great grand-daughter, Lillian Fullilove; and two son-in-laws, Frank Powers and James Bordelon. Joyce never met a stranger. She was friendly, loved talking to everyone she met showing much kindness and compassion to those less fortunate than herself. She enjoyed sharing and spreading the good word of Jesus Christ everywhere she went. Some of her favorite quotes were "Hallelujah", "Thank You Jesus", "Praise the Lord" and "Amen"!
