Madeleine Bousquet McKnight

February 10, 1936 - May 5, 2022

Madeleine Bousquet McKnight passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022 surrounded by family and loved ones. Originally from Woonsocket, RI, Madeleine and her husband Conrad McKnight moved to Lafayette in 1969. Through her more than 40 years teaching piano, she touched the lives of many students in passing on her love for music. She had a strong, quiet faith, and offered her talents in service to Christ through playing the organ, serving on the altar guild, and singing and directing the choir. A good and faithful servant, she is now granted eternal rest in the nearer presence of God. Madeleine will be fondly missed by her friends and family. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, her love of traveling with her family and her generous spirit. Madeleine was preceded in death by her mother, Giovanna Segalla Bousquet, her father, Raoul Bousquet, and her husband Conrad McKnight. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle McKnight, Lorraine Rabalais (Blaine), and Katharine McMahon (David) as well as her grandchildren Sarah Clement (Alex), Conrad McMahon(Amelia), and Joseph McMahon and her great grandchildren, Henry, Millicent, and Charlotte Clement. The family invites you to a celebration of her life to be held Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, with the service following at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately after the service. The Reverend Michael J. Bordelon, M.Div, Rector of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, will conduct the funeral service. Reverend Madge McLain, will concelebrate the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Wildlife Federation or Heart of Hospice. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the McKnight family to the staff of Heart of Hospice and Senior Helpers for their compassionate care and loving support.
