Mary Frances Ellis Neuner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Mary Frances Ellis Neuner on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Mary was 95 when she entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Garden View Assisted Living Facility in Lafayette. The family requests that visitation be observed at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 8:30 AM until time of services at 10:00 AM, with a recitation of the rosary beginning at 8:30 AM. Interment will be held at a later date in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. The Very Reverend Chester C. Arceneaux, VF, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as a mother figure to many nieces and nephews. Mary and Frank moved from Missouri to Baton Rouge in 1950 where her children were born and reared. She was a stay at home mom who took on many duties....Brownie leader, Cub Scout leader, PTA, Altar Society and other community projects. At the age of 50 she took up tennis and played until she was 90. Mary and Frank retired to Perdido Key, FL in 1987. Their many guests were always welcome and enjoyed Mary's famous Red Roosters. Four years ago she moved to Garden View Assisted Living in Lafayette and her sport became Bingo. Although she had many interests and friends in life, her passion was her family. Her memories and life lessons will remain with her family and friends forever. Survivors include her son, Frank X. Neuner, Jr. and wife, Tracy Owens Neuner; daughter, Mary Jane Neuner Riley and husband, William J. Riley (Bill); son, William A. "Tony" Neuner, and wife, Carole Earle Neuner; her grandchildren, Gretchen Neuner Daniel (Randy), Hearin Neuner Brannock, F. Xavier Neuner, III, Mary-Frances Neuner Haynes (David), Megan Mary Riley Benham (Christopher), Erin Elizabeth Riley Meier (Jacob), Camille Earle Neuner, and William A. "Will" Neuner; nine great-grandchildren, Owen, Mary-Charlotte, and William Daniel; Violet Brannock; Lincoln and Spencer Benham; Grafton and Fiona Meier; and Henry Francis Haynes; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Frank X. Neuner, Sr.; her brother, Jack Ellis and his wife, Earline Ellis; her sister, Kathryn Taylor; her brothers-in-law, Louis, Oliver, James, and David Neuner; and her sisters-in-law, Jeanette Neuner, Rosemary Neuner Langan, Libbie Neuner, and Nancy Neuner. Pallbearers will be F. Xavier Neuner, III, Owen West Daniel, William A. Neuner, Jr., Christopher T. Benham, Randal D. Daniel, Jr., and David K. Haynes.
