Mildred Marie Picard

June 28, 1935 - March 2, 2022

A Eulogy and Scripture Service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Mildred Marie Picard, 86, who peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in Abbeville, Louisiana. Survivors include her children, Jeannie Yousef and her husband Salah, Mary "Jackie" Webb and her husband Harold, Debra Leroy, Sandra Picard, Steve Picard and his wife Sherry Riddle Picard, Elvis James Picard, Neidra “Cookie” Mayer and fiance’ Joel Lormand; grandchildren, Rene Picard, Rhonda Yousef, Shannon Webb, Tiffany Webb, Jonathan Webb, Robbie Leroy, Suzanne Chiasson, Hector Uzcategui, Misty Picard, Ryan Picard, Brooke Benoit, Bryttani Picard, Josh Castille, Aaron Blevins, Delaney Mayer, Sara Picard, Jasmine Leger, and Jacob Vincent; numerous great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Eva Manuel and Vicky Myers; brother, Edward Smith Jr. She was preceded in death by husband, Rene Picard; son, Anthony Smith; parents, Edward Smith Sr. and Alicia Leger Smith; brothers, J.B. Smith, Harold Smith, Rodney Smith, and Pat Smith; sister, Shirley Trahan. Mrs. Picard was a true devoted Christian who enjoyed spreading the good word of Jesus to many people throughout the community. In her younger years, she was employed at the Lafayette Regional Airport before she became a private full-time caregiver. Mrs. Picard cherished moments spent cooking, making people laugh, walking, and most importantly, spending time with those she loved most, her family. Pallbearers will be Shannon Webb, Jonathan Webb, Jacob Vincent, Ryan Picard, Hector Uzcategui, and Robbie Leroy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Elvis James Picard and Steve Picard. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 9:00 AM until time of services and will continue following services until 9:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in Mildred Picard's name to the help the children in need in Mexico to The Christian Teaching Center, PO BOX 60596, Lafayette, LA 70596 . A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Picard family to the staff of Eastridge Nursing Home, Lamm Hospice staff, and Bridgeway Hospice staff, and her children and grandchildren for their care and compassion given to Mrs. Picard in her time of need.
