Nemecio D. Esteban-Gamboa

December 6, 1932 - March 13, 2022

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Nemecio Delfin Esteban-Gamboa, age 89, who peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. The family will receive guests at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the service. A eulogy will be shared by his son, Jackson Esteban, followed by the reading of the obituary by his grandson, Alexander Rodriguez. Pastor Lourdes Enrique De Paredes will conduct the funeral services. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 40 years, Marina Figueredo-Esteban; his children, Jackson Esteban, Adriana Esteban (Deuwaldo Rodriguez), Elizabeth Esteban (Walter Castelblanco), Juan Esteban (Solangel Zambrano), and Erick Esteban (Alisha Verrett); his grandsons, Carlos Esteban, Anderson Ayala, Jonathan Esteban, Jackson S. Esteban, Daniel Rodriguez-Esteban, Walter G. Castelblanco-Esteban, Jefferson Rodriguez-Esteban, David Esteban, Salomon Rodriguez-Esteban, Daniel Esteban, Gadiel J. Castelblanco-Esteban, Gadiel Esteban, Jr., Israel Esteban, Erick Matteo Esteban, Jean Esteban, and Juan David Esteban; his granddaughters, Genesis Esteban-Schefferstein, Elizabeth J. Esteban, Jasabe Castelblanco-Esteban, Keren Esteban, Abigail Esteban, Dayla Galmore, Jackliana Esteban, Keithyn Esteban, and Sarah S. Esteban; his great-grandchildren Destyn Chauvin-Esteban, Kristopher Ayala-Esteban, Dominic Esteban, Isaiah B. Esteban, Kaleb Ayala-Esteban, Jacob Esteban, David Daniel Rodriguez, Gabriel Esteban, Alejandra Ayala-Esteban, Bethany Esteban, Amelia Castelblanco-Esteban, Scarlett Esteban-Schefferstein, Luna Esteban, Isabella Esteban, and Valerie Esteban; as well as many more family and friends, near and far. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Jesus Esteban and Maria Del Carmen-Gamboa of California, Colombia. A loyal devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; Nemecio found strength in the love of his family and dear friends. Nemecio was lovingly known by his family as "Nono", "Nonito", "Chico", and "Chiquilin". In his birth country of Colombia, Nemecio enjoyed farming his lands, taking care of his cattle, horses, sheep, and spending time outdoors. Nemecio came to America 23 years ago and made it his home. He enjoyed his retirement sight seeing, fishing, long walks on the beach, eating ice cream, sneaking chocolates, and drinking a nice cold beer. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren; you could always find Nemecio at any gathering entertaining and dancing with his grandchildren. Although some were unable to speak Spanish, the attention and affection he exuded was not lost in translation. Pallbearers will be Jackson Esteban, Erick Esteban, Juan Esteban, Walter Castelblanco, Deuwaldo Rodriguez, Carlos Esteban, Jackson S. Esteban, Daniel Rodriguez-Esteban, Walter G. Castelblanco-Esteban, Jefferson Rodriguez, Anderson Ayala, and Jonathan Esteban.
