Virginia Schexnayder

October 8, 1946 - April 21, 2022

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 10:30 am in Martin & Castille’s La Fleur de Lis Chapel for Virginia Ann Schexnayder, 75, who passed away Thursday evening, April 21, 2022, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Deacon Keith Duhon of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton will conduct the services. Survivors include her devoted and loving husband of 58 years, Clifford Schexnayder, Sr.; one son, Clifford “C.J.” Schexnayder, Jr. (Millie); two grandsons she adored, Seth Schexnayder (Tasha), and Chase Schexnayder (Megan); seven great grandchildren she loved to the fullest, Kalynn, Chasyli, Kaylie, Bently, Elijah, Anastasia, and Stella; one sister, Thelma Domingue; two brothers, Bradley Trahan (Cynthia), and Roland Trahan (Ginger); and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith Bourque Trahan Arnould and Loyd Trahan; and four sisters, Joyce Trahan, Jeanette Trahan Richard, Pearl Trahan Lafayette, and Helen Trahan Vallot. Virginia was an established champion bowler and member of the 600 Club with the Lafayette Bowling League. She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed time spent by the campfire, and playing cards with her family. She loved fishing with her favorite fishing partner, her husband, Cliff, often catching more than him. She was an amazing lady, wonderful wife, kind, and caring towards her grandsons and great grandchildren. Although she has gone home to our Lord, Jesus Christ, she will never be forgotten for the mark she has made on her loved ones, family, and friends. Virginia's care and compassion was extended to others even after her passing by her gift of organ donation through LOPA, Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency. Pallbearers will be Chase Schexnayder, Donald “T-Don” Vallot, Jr., Ray Allen Albarado, Marty Blanchard, Randy Savoy, and Tyler Hebert. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clifford “C.J.” Schexnayder, Jr., and Seth Schexnayder. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 8:30 am until time of services.
