Chester L. Guidry, Sr.

July 30, 1932 - April 10, 2022

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at a 2:00 pm Liturgy of the Word in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Chester Lewis Guidry, Sr., 89, who passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at his residence in Duson. Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Deacon Robert Klingman, of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. Chester was born on July 30, 1932, in Lafayette, LA to John and Mathide Guidry. He was in the Army during the Korean War serving as a Corporal in the 223rd Infantry Regiment Division stationed in Japan. He worked for Montgomery Wards for 36 years. Afterward he spent his retirement continuing to work on appliances and working in his vegetable garden. He is survived by one son, Chester L. Guidry Jr. and his wife, Helen, and one daughter, Janet M. Leger and her husband, David; four grandchildren, Marsha Judice and her husband, Will, Derrick Guidry, LaToya Bourliea and her husband, Kevin, and Erica Myers and her husband, Keith; as well as a host of great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. Chester was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hubert Guidry, and Paul Guidry; one sister, Leah Guidry; one granddaughter, Melanie Guidry; and his wife, Ruth Lafleur Guidry. Pallbearers will be David Leger, Paul T. Guidry, Gage Guidry, Chris Guidry, Clay Leger, and Russo Martin. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 10:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 pm in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
