Ellen Lasserre Bernard

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 2:00 in St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette for Ellen Lasserre Bernard, 97, who died on Friday, April 1, 2022 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Very Rev. Msgr. W. Curtis Mallet, JCL, Vicar General, Diocese of Lafayette will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include one son, Barry Bernard and his wife, Ardene of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Jennifer Bernard Guidry and her husband, Corey of Lafayette and Eric Bernard and his wife Shannon of Breaux Bridge; and four great grandchildren, Jude Guidry, Noah Bernard, Cade Guidry and Ashtyn Bernard. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Isaac “Ike” Bernard; parents, Irene Boudreaux Lasserre and Jules Lasserre; and one sister, Joanna Lasserre Forsse. Ellen received her nursing degree in 1943 from Charity Hospital in Shreveport. She was a registered nurse at Hamilton Medical Group. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all. Pallbearers will be Eric Bernard, Corey Guidry, Jude Guidry, Noah Bernard, and Cade Guidry. The family requests that visitation be observed in St. Genevieve Catholic Church on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until time of services. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Bernard family to Charlotte Arceneaux Guilbeau for the love and compassion she gave Ellen in her time of need.
