Louis Joseph Cornay

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette for Louis Joseph Cornay, 90, who died on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his loving family. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. The Very Reverend Chester C. Arceneaux, VF, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, will be the celebrant of the Mass. Concelebrant will be Rev. Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Jeanne Williams Cornay; children, Michelle Cornay Schmidt and husband Tim, Jay Cornay and wife Erin, Emily Cornay Mott Langley and husband Glenn; Charles Cornay and wife Jessica; fourteen grandchildren, Kramer, Catherine, William, Thomas, Sam, and David Schmidt, Grant, Julia Clare, and Annie Cornay, Camille, Madeleine, and Phillip Mott, Mary and Clara Cornay; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Clement Joseph Cornay and wife Ann, and Hugh Leo Cornay and wife Corinne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard J. Cornay Sr. and Louise Bossier Cornay; two siblings, Howard Joseph Cornay Jr. and Louise Cornay Christman. Pallbearers will be Kramer Schmidt, William Schmidt, Thomas Schmidt, Sam Schmidt, David Schmidt, Grant Cornay, and Phillip Mott. Honorary Pallbearers and lifelong friends are Ernie Hickson and Sheldon Blue. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM and will continue on Wednesday from11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. A Rosary will be prayed by Brady LeBlanc on Tuesday at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
