Mary Jane Comeaux Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM in Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas for Mary Jane Comeaux, age 75, who passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. The family will receive guests on Thursday at Martin & Castille -DOWNTOWN location from 8:30 AM until 12 Noon. Burial will be next to her mother in Myrtle Grove Cemetery. Pastor Perry Hubbs will conduct the services. Mary Jane was born in Port Barre, Louisiana in 1946 to Irene Way Fahrmann. She graduated from Port Barre High School in 1964 and entered Practical Nursing School at TH Harris. Upon completion of her studies she went to work as an ER Nurse at Charity Hospital in Lafayette. Through full time employment at Charity and then Lafayette General, she was able to receive a BS in Nursing from USL in 1977. At that time she went to work at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center as a staff RN. Through her years of service she worked in various staff and management positions at Lourdes and did volunteer work within the community. Mary Jane has always indicated that her career choice was a vocation, one of God's purposes for her life. Pediatric Oncology was the most rewarding nursing in which she had the privilege of participating. To see life through the innocent, unblemished eyes and hearts of children was a blessing beyond explanation. Mary Jane's family meant more to her than she could ever express. She leaves to celebrate her life and share memories, three nieces, Donna Pat Pellegrin and husband Duane, Kayre Fahrmann Jones and husband John, Holly Lorraine DeJean; one nephew, Arlen LeJeune and wife Cassie; and her sister in law, Sarita Fahrmann. Aunt Janie held an extra special place in her heart and life for her great nieces and great nephews, Emily DeJean, Harrison Matt, Brittany Jane Matt, Lainey Louviere, Natalie Anne LeJeune, Alex Joseph LeJeune and Anna Catherine LeJeune. When she wanted to smile, thoughts of them always allowed still another blessing. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Way Fahrmann; a brother, Bobbie Fahrmann and his wife Barbara Hidalgo Fahrmann; and her sister, Elaine LeJeune and her husband Al LeJeune.
